Description

Smith's entrepreneurial spirit led to the creation of Companion Pet Enterprises in 1985, a company dedicated to advising and aiding others in their business endeavors. Smith is also the President of Airborne Animals LLC, a pet transportation company. Pets are moved via commercial airline cargo services domestically and internationally. Smith started as a veterinary technician, graduating from SUNY Delhi in 1979. After working for many years in a small animal hospital setting, she completed grooming studies from NASH Academy of Animal Arts, and helped design and oversee construction of a pet care facility housing a veterinary hospital, boarding kennel, grooming shop, crematory, and pet shipping services. She was director of the facility for 13 years. Smith has 30 years of experience working in the pet industry. Airborne Animals LLC has grown into a full time business, and specializes in the relocation of dogs, cats, birds and other small household pets. Shipping clientele includes Microsoft, Johnson and Johnson, Invitrogen, Continental, and many private individuals.Her diversified background relates her with the people and companies she works with. She understands the people and clients they work with.Smith has served on several association boards including the New Jersey Veterinary Technicians and Assistants, the Independent Pet and Animal Transportation Association (currently is president-elect), and the American Boarding Kennels Association, where she is a past president. Additionally, she has earned ABKA's highest award for service, the Golden Scoop. She is also past-president of the local Chamber of Commerce. Clients have included Veterinary Learning Systems, ABKA, and a variety of technician associations as well as private hospitals and kennels.
