It became the first “controlled environment” boarding location in the country. Two years later, Purr’n Pooch opened in Tinton Falls. Dick Palazzo, a veterinary student from the University of Florida, who graduated from the Stanton School of Grooming and the Volhard Dog Training Academy, became the general manager of both facilities. He added dog grooming, basic dog training and transportation services to the service offerings, and became a charter member of the American Boarding Kennels Association.By the 1980s, play areas were developed, doggie daycare was offered and socialized pet boarding incorporated full-day playtime and private accommodations. Additionally, Estate Programs were created for pets of deceased owners.Most recently, our locations have been renovated and include a training hall, custom-designed cattery, dog pools, feline waterfall, and new dog boarding accommodations that include luxury studio suites. The entire Palazzo family continues to provide top-quality pet boarding, dog grooming, basic dog training, and luxury accommodations.
